Millionaire Scavenger Hunt in the Northside

20 Aug

Baby Beez and I spent Saturday hiking all over the Northside with friends, on a scavenger hunt organized by the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh–Allegheny. It was a sunny, perfect day for a long walk! The items on the scavenger hunt were all historic locations in the Northside.

I don’t know anything about the Northside except the Rooney’s go to church there, there are a lot of giant luxurious mansions and also dilapidated houses, and that there’s a nice big park. Luckily my companions are wizards at local trivia, so they were able to figure things out in a snap.

The scavenger hunt wasn’t a race, so there weren’t winners or losers, but we DID get all of the clues by the end. There was also a raffle at the end, and we won 2 tickets to a performance by the Pittsburgh International Children’s Theater, which is pretty fantastic!

We had such fun during the day, and I managed to capture a glimpse or two of the Northside’s sights–

I didn’t know Gertrude Stein was born in the Northside, or occupied Allegheny City as they probably used to call it!
