Prayers with Newtown, CT

14 Dec

I’m heartsick for the families in Newtown, CT. And I’m heartsick that children could ever be exposed to such terrible violence.
But I’m not shocked. My god I wish I were shocked. But I’m not. Maybe the world isn’t changing, and it’s always been terrible and bloody and I’m just becoming more aware. Or maybe it really is changing, and terrible acts of violence directed to innocent, unsuspecting people are ever increasing.
And I didn’t feel less safe for me or my family after hearing of this tragedy, since I didn’t feel very safe to begin with.

I asked myself the same questions earlier today. Maybe we are just more aware. I certainly hope things aren’t getting worse. :/
